If an individual in Brooklyn needs drug or alcohol rehab but doesn't have health insurance or the funds to pay for treatment in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an alternative to consider. ATR is a federally-funded plan which provides the means for individuals to access treatment programs and support including inpatient programs, intensive outpatient, regular outpatient, continuing care, counseling, recovery and life coaching, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program allows individuals with vouchers to acquire treatment and recovery support services for drug abuse disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR individuals must meet certain requirements, including: 1) be at least 18 years of age, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have an annual income that is below 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
