SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Castle Point, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Castle Point are programs which are legally permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
