The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals.
