A requirement that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
