SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Jewett, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Jewett are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was given.
