The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients.
