Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centers - Middleburgh, NY.

One of the out-patient treatment options for individuals in Middleburgh who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to give specific meds to opioid dependent individuals, many that are opioid-based also and are addiction. With low doses however, the user doesn't experience being high and also does not have acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug tried for this reason, but there are alternative choices to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to administer the drug, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the drug is about one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone that can only be administered in well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is about just under $300 monthly for the generic version of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a med which reverses the effects of opioids. A person taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced approximately $450 per month. Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
