SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Mineola, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Mineola are programs which are officially permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
