The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can obtain substance abuse rehabilitation services in Montrose. This encompasses individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other recovery services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are restricted to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members are permitted to remain in treatment.
