The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients.
