The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in New Russia are programs that are legally allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year.
