Medicare is a federal program that helps pay for health care for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain types of medical care.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
