The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Poland are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. A requirement that MAT individuals must also get ancillary benefits aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.
An opioid treatment facility can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been given.
