When an individual in Pompey needs drug abuse treatment and doesn't have private health insurance or the money to pay for the recovery program in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an alternative to consider. ATR is a federally-funded program which makes it possible for qualified people to access treatment facilities and support including inpatient, intensive outpatient, regular outpatient, counseling, continuing care, life coaching and recovery support, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program allows those individuals with vouchers to acquire rehabilitation and recovery support services for drug abuse disorders at the provider of their choice. To qualify for ATR individuals must meet certain criteria, including: 1) must be 18 years or older, 2) have a history of substance abuse and addiction, 3) have a yearly income that is below 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
Individuals interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can consult with ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If the person's initial choice of program or rehab center isn't working out, they can work with their coordinator to locate one that is and that accepts the ATR.
