SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - South Lima, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in South Lima are programs that are legally allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
