Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health care for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering different kinds of treatment.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal and those required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
