Reversely, American Indians and Alaska Natives are more likely to seek treatment on their own will more than other racial/ethnic groups. Roughly 50% of American Indian and Alaska Native substance abuse treatment admissions show up to treatment as criminal justice clients, which means they have very likely accepted a court ordered diversion program to go to treatment instead of jail times for their charges. So therefore, there is a definite need for different types of treatment programs to cover all of the various needs of American Indian or Alaska Natives, including addiction rehabilitation programs in native languages.
