SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - West Kill, NY.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in West Kill are programs that are officially allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of certification it has been granted.
