Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Kansas, OH.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation options for people in Kansas struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to give certain medications to opioid dependent people, many of which are opioids themselves and are addiction. With low enough doses however, the user doesn't experience being high but also doesn't experience intense cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication tried for this sole purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to dispense the med, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is around $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone that is only be administered in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is approximately just under $300 per month for the generic of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a med which reverses the effects of opioids. A person consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
