Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Mount Gilead, OH.

One of the outpatient treatment options for clients in Mount Gilead who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to administer certain medications to opioid addicted people, many that are opioid-based also and are habit forming. With low amounts however, the user doesn't experience high feelings but also doesn't have intense cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication used for this sole purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to pick from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to administer the med, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the med is approximately $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone which is only be given in structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars per month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug which blocks the effects of opiates. A person taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
