Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Old Washington, OH.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation options for clients in Old Washington struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent individuals, many of which are opioid-based also and are habit forming. With low doses the client doesn't feel high and also doesn't experience acute cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug administered for this purpose, but there are alternative choices currently to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to administer the drug, which is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the drug is approximately $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug that blocks the effects of opioids. Someone consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
