Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Olmsted Falls, OH.

One of the outpatient treatment options for people in Olmsted Falls battling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are authorized to dispense certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioid-based themselves and are addictive. In low amounts the user does not experience being high and also does not experience severe cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication used for this purpose, but there are a few more options to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to administer the med, which is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is around one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which can only be administered in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is approximately three hundred dollars /month for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a med which blocks the effects of opiates. Someone taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it's an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
