Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
