A person consuming this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs approximately $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
