Inpatient drug rehab, also known as residential drug rehab, is a treatment method for individuals that want to get out of their environment and receive very comprehensive treatment. Inpatient rehab in Yale commonly lasts anywhere from 1 month to 3 - 6 months or longer, and many facilities offer both short and long term rehabilitation options. Some inpatient facilities offer both non-medical and medication assisted detoxification services, however some only treat clients who have been safely detoxed at a detox center prior to arrival.
Within an inpatient residential drug rehab, it is much like a small community of clients and staff who are working together through the process of recovery. Treatment staff will do a careful evaluation of the client's treatment needs, and a recovery plan is put forth that may involve counseling, therapy, psychotherapy, holistic treatment, etc. all depending on what recovery method the program is employing. Some inpatient programs concentrate on the 12 steps, whereas others employ a therapeutic behavioral method, which could involve more advanced therapies and psychotherapies.
Inpatient drug rehab also eliminates many of the risks associated with relapse, since the individual is continually supervised in a drug and alcohol free facility, and won't have access to any of the friends or drug dealers who influenced, supported or empowered their drug abuse.
