Medicare is a federal program that helps pay for health benefits for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. For individuals that do have Medicare and require substance abuse recovery services in Banks, this program will pay for various treatment programs and recovery services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain types of treatment.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A pays for inpatient drug and alcohol treatment, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but policy holders will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers 190 days of inpatient care total, as in during the individual's lifetime.

Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B pays up to 80% of the fees associated with outpatient drug and alcohol treatment. This includes outpatient services, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring disorders such as anxiety disorders or depression and medications dispensed by clinics. It also covers professional interventions.

Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an option for people who want supplemental health insurance aside from Medicare Parts A, B, and D. Individuals who have Part C can have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications associated with treating drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as those required for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
