Military Insurance - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Salem, OR.

The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.

Through TRICARE, military members can acquire substance abuse rehabilitation services in Salem. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other rehabilitation services. They will need pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but stays for detox are limited to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detox will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers will be permitted to remain in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is commonly accepted. In additional to this, there are 60 group therapy sessions and 15 family therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which occur on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed other primary treatment services such as outpatient or inpatient treatment.
