The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can choose a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.

By way of TRICARE, military members can obtain drug and alcohol treatment services in Dravosburg. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other substance abuse recovery services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detox are limited to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members will be permitted to remain in rehab. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically allowed.
