When a person in Mars needs drug abuse treatment but doesn't have health insurance or the money to pay for the rehab program in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is possibly an alternative to consider. ATR is a federally-funded plan which provides the means for individuals to access treatment programs and services including inpatient, regular outpatient, intensive outpatient, counseling, continuing care, life coaching and recovery support, skills building, vocational training, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program provides individuals with vouchers to purchase treatment and recovery support services for addiction disorders at the provider of their choice. To qualify for ATR individuals must meet certain requirements, including: 1) must be 18 years or older, 2) have a history of substance abuse and addiction, 3) have an annual income that is less than 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
People interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can contact ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If someone's initial choice of program or rehab center isn't working out, they can work with their coordinator to locate one that is and that accepts the ATR.
