The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to non-military health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary care physician and get referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can receive drug and alcohol treatment services in Stroudsburg. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other various treatment services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time limits as to how long military insurance carriers are allowed to remain in treatment.
