Military Insurance - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Rapid City, SD.

The armed forces currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary care physician and get referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.

By way of TRICARE, military members can acquire substance abuse rehabilitation services in Rapid City. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other recovery services. They will need pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some restrictions. Military insurance pays for both outpatient and inpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time limits as to how long military insurance carriers will be allowed to stay in rehab. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is usually allowed. Additionally, there are 15 family therapy sessions and 60 group therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which are done on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed other primary rehabilitation services such as inpatient or outpatient treatment.
