The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to non-military health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary care physician and get referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can obtain substance abuse rehabilitation services in Brownsville. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other rehabilitation services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detox are limited to no more than 7 days.
