When an individual in Mountain City needs drug abuse treatment but doesn't have health insurance or the funds to pay for treatment in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an alternative to consider. ATR is a federally-funded program which provides the means for individuals to access treatment facilities and support including inpatient, intensive outpatient, regular outpatient, counseling, continuing care, recovery and life coaching, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program provides individuals with vouchers to acquire rehabilitation and recovery support services for substance use disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR individuals must meet certain criteria, including: 1) be at least 18 years of age, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have a yearly income that is below 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
People interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can consult with ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If the person's original choice of treatment or facility isn't working out, they can work with their coordinator to locate one that is and that accepts the ATR.
