The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary care physician and obtain referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, military members can receive drug and alcohol treatment services in Seymour. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various recovery services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detox will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members are allowed to remain in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically allowed. In additional to this, there are 15 family therapy sessions and 60 group therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which occur on an outpatient basis.
