Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Bryan, TX.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Bryan who are struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to administer certain medications to opioid addicted people, many of which are opioids also and are habit forming. With low amounts however, the user doesn't feel high but also doesn't have acute cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug tried for this reason, but there are other choices to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center licensed to dispense the med, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the med is around $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone that can only be administered in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars /month for the generic of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug which reverses the effects of opioids. An individual taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken on a daily basis, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
