There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a drug that reverses the effects of opioids. An individual consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and is priced approximately $450 a month. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
