Military Insurance - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Hext, TX.

The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can choose a primary doctor and obtain referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.

By way of TRICARE, military members can obtain drug and alcohol treatment services in Hext. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other rehab services. They will require pre-authorization for services and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detoxification will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time restrictions as to how long military members will be permitted to remain in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is usually permitted. In additional to this, there are 15 family therapy sessions and 60 group therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which are done on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed prior rehabilitation services such as outpatient or inpatient treatment.
