Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 /month.
