The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can choose a primary doctor and get referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can receive drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Brigham City. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other substance abuse recovery services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are limited to 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detox will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers are allowed to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically allowed.
