Partial hospitalization/Day Treatment is a type of outpatient alcohol and drug rehab program which is less than intensive out-patient and more intensive than regular outpatient rehab. Partial Hospitalization Day Treatment is also designed to help clients who may need intensive rehabilitation for a dual-diagnosis disorder, but do not need around the clock intervention and care. For a person who has finished inpatient rehab, a partial hospitalization day treatment plan in DHS could help them make the transition more easily into a drug-free lifestyle as a viable "step-down" option. After partial hospitalization day treatment, the individual could then transition over to regular out-patient treatment.

When a person is in a partial hospitalization day treatment center, they typically take part in services anywhere from three to five days per week. It is very much like an in-patient treatment program in many significant ways, including the fact that individuals will get access tomental health professionals, physicians and nurses who can deal with the psychological, emotional, and physical challenges they are trying to conquer. For at least four to six hrs on the days that clients attend partial hospitalization day treatment, they will receive one-on-one addiction therapy, attend group counseling sessions, psychotherapy sessions, receive any required medical care and deal with any of the mental health problems that are triggering their drug addiction.
