Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health benefits for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. For people that do have Medicare and require addiction rehabilitation in Jamaica, Medicare will cover various rehabilitation programs and treatment services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering various forms of care.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient addiction treatment, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but policy holders will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers a total of 190 days of inpatient care, as in during the individual's lifetime.

Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B covers up to 80% of the costs associated with outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation. This includes outpatient care, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression or anxiety and drugs administered by clinics. Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for people who want supplemental coverage aside from what the other parts of Medicare have to offer. Individuals who have Part C can have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications needed for drug and alcohol withdrawal and those required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
