Military Insurance - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Montpelier, VT.

The armed forces currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary care physician and get referrals to health care services that provide specialty care.

By way of TRICARE, military members can receive substance abuse treatment services in Montpelier. This encompasses detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various rehabilitation services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detoxification are limited to 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detox will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time limits as to how long military members will be allowed to remain in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is commonly accepted. In additional to this, there are 60 group therapy sessions and 15 family therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which occur on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed other rehabilitation services such as outpatient or inpatient treatment.
