Medicare is a federal program that helps pay for health benefits for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. For people who do have Medicare and need drug or alcohol rehabilitation in Rochester, Medicare can pay for certain recovery programs and recovery services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain forms of care.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient substance rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but individuals will have to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for 190 days of inpatient care total, as in during the person's lifetime.

Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an option for individuals who want additional health insurance aside from Medicare Parts A, B, and D. Individuals who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications associated with treating withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as those required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
