Naltrexone is an additional med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
