Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Acme, WA.

One of the out-patient rehab options for clients in Acme battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent clients, many that are opioids also and are addiction. In low doses however, the individual doesn't feel high but also does not have acute cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this reason, but there are alternative choices currently to pick from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient clinic certified to administer the drug, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is approximately $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be given in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is approximately just under $300 a month for the generic of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opiates. A person taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
