Medicare is a federal program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. For individuals that do have Medicare and need drug or alcohol rehabilitation in Clayton, Medicare may pay for certain rehabilitation programs and treatment services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering various kinds of medical care.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but policy holders will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only covers 190 days of inpatient care total, this applies to the person's lifetime.

Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B pays up to 80% of the fees associated with outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation. This includes outpatient services, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders such as depression or anxiety and drugs dispensed by clinics. It also covers professional interventions.

Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an alternative for individuals who want supplemental coverage apart from what the other parts of Medicare have to offer. Individuals who have Part C may have more options available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications needed for drug and alcohol withdrawal and medications used for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
