DWI clients in treatment need to complete specific requirements to fulfill the conditions of their sentencing. Rehab facilities which help fulfill these court requirements and terms, which are usually more lenient than normal sentencing such as large fines and jail time, are available in Elk to provide alcohol education, group counseling, and additional evaluation for serious alcohol or drug issues.
Drug and Alcohol Education is a fundamental treatment tool used at rehab programs treating DWI clients. There are various levels of alcohol education and this can vary by state. Level I education normally include 12 hours of education related to the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what a person with a single offense or someone under 21 will commonly be required to do. Level II courses would include both education and therapy at a program which is approved by the courts. How long a client will need to participate in therapy depends upon various considerations, which can include the number of DWI's the individual has had, and the seriousness of the offense. In most cases, clients will be required to take the Level II DWI classes and therapy except for when their blood-alcohol content was very low when they were arrested and there were no other significant charges when the offender was arrested.
