Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - Cobb, WI.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation options for clients in Cobb who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are authorized to give specific meds to opioid dependent clients, many that are opioids themselves and are addictive. In low enough amounts the client does not feel high and also does not experience severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug tried for this sole purpose, but there are alternative choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to dispense the drug, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which is only be given in structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a med which blocks the effects of opioids. A person taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and is priced about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
