The armed forces currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary care physician and obtain referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
Through TRICARE, military members can receive substance abuse rehabilitation services in De Pere. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other treatment services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are limited to no more than 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detoxification will only be authorized if it is an approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers will be permitted to stay in treatment. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is commonly allowed. In additional to this, there are 60 group therapy sessions and 15 family therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which are done on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has finished other rehabilitation services such as inpatient or outpatient treatment.
