Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Hancock, WI.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation options for clients in Hancock struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are certified to administer certain medications to opioid dependent individuals, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are addiction. In low enough amounts however, the user does not feel high but also does not have intense cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this sole purpose, but there are alternative choices to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to administer the med, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is about $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be administered in structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is around $300 per month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. An individual consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
